Ayurveda
The focus on wellbeing at “SwaSwara” is fuelled from an Ayurvedic approach to address the physical aspect of the body, while the emotional and spiritual connections are initiated by Art, therapeutic Hatha Yoga, guided cleansing Yoga kriyas and Meditations along with Pranayama sessions every day . Engaging with Mother Nature on this thickly wooded, verdant estate, farming is an integral part of the “SwaSwara” experience, wherein the guest can accompany the Chef to pluck and harvest fresh produce for their cookery classes which becomes their meal for the day. Those guests who have opted to undergo the Ayurveda programs are introduced to and taught how to cook meals based on the Satvic diets they follow during their stay. This diet is based on the principle of the five universal natural elements and the three Doshas of the human body as per classical Ayurvedic texts & tenets.
The four main programmes on offer include “Spirit of Life” – which is a soulful and rejuvenating itinerary available for those guests who do not have the time to stay for more than a couple of days. This program incorporates all of SwaSwara’s wholesome disciplines and is designed to introduce one to a healthy lifestyle – a break from which you return home with a renewed sense of energy and bliss and yes, some seed of learning for a positive transformation.
“Swa Wellbeing” is SwaSwara’s iconic program, available over a period of three or more days only. An all-inclusive package that provides a flexible schedule that includes rejuvenative ayurveda style massages, yoga consultations and therapies such as Yoga Nidra and the option to book a private one on one session which needs to be booked on site at extra cost. Addressing the mind and body with Hatha yoga restorative yoga therapies and Pranayama breathing techniques and healing Art / Pottery sessions and a hands on introduction to healthy cuisine and cooking methods; the goal of the “Swa Wellbeing” program is to promote change and synergy in your everyday life when back home.
For those guests who would like to understand what curative Ayurveda is about SwaSwara offers the “Ayurveda Rejuvenation” program which is a 5-12-day therapeutic and curative offering which begins with an in depth consultation with the Ayurvedic doctor / Vaidya on arrival. This program which includes traditional, curative and intense Ayurveda treatments only, promises to de-stress and revitalise you from the inside out. Due to the short durations this program does not include the Ghee detox and purging procedures but aims to correct the ill effects of modern lifestyles and provide relief from ailments ranging from musculoskeletal issues and back pain to circulation and sinus-related problems with the curative Ayurvedic treatments. These intense treatments are further supplemented by a pure vegetarian individual Dosha specific diet that is drawn up for each patient by the Vaidya / Ayurvedic doctor.
Meanwhile for those who prefer to undergo the highly disciplined Ayurveda Detox and Panchakarma program in more relaxed surroundings, SwaSwara also offers the classical, traditional 14-day & 21 days intensive, personalised cleansing therapy too. This program begins with the ‘Purvakarma’, which is to prepare the body for the removal of accumulated toxins and goes on to the internal process of “Snehanam” , wherein the body is oleated internally by the ingestion of increasing quantities of medicated ghee, as prescribed by the Vaidya. It is to be borne in mind that the activities of those who opt for this highly disciplined program would also strictly need to adhere to whatever the Vaidya recommends only. It is to be noted that in accordance with the ancient Ayurveda tenets, swimming is not permitted if one chooses to undergo any of the Ayurveda focused programs.
To sum it up, all of the SwaSwara programmes incorporate everything which is special about this truly nurturing destination, taking guests on nature trails to spot native species of birds, boat rides in local fishing boats, guided walks to explore the temple town and temple, local markets and nearby beaches. Interactive cooking classes delve into the restorative properties of South Indian cuisine, while art therapy sessions aim to put you back in touch with your forgotten inner child.

To Eat
Two restaurants – AnAmaya beach and Cocum – offer covered and alfresco dining based on the adage that ‘you are what you eat’. While to the greater extent fresh vegetables from the resort’s organic farm & seafood from the ocean are at the foundation of SwaSwara’s healthy cuisine, the kitchen uses no white sugar, meat or processed ingredients and minimal dairy and oil is used.
