The Elounda Peninsula is a highly exclusive all-suite hotel overlooking Mirabello Bay in Greece. Reached through a private road, its expansive verandas offer sublime views over the Aegean Sea. Two private sandy beaches provide access to a huge seafront swimming pool, a beach bar and restaurants. Facilities include a 9-hole par 3 golf course and a Golf Academy with a PGA professional team as well as a PADI-certified scuba diving centre.

Outstandingly courteous staff service a wide range of accommodation that includes private pool and garden suites, as well as ultra-luxe villas with up to seven bedrooms.

Guests also have access to the adjoining Porto Elounda Golf and Spa Resort, which houses boutique shops, sports facilities and a Six Senses Spa that was once voted the best in the world. Dedicated to its guests’ wellbeing, the spa provides a sanctuary of calm, offering everything from beauty treatments to holistic healing rituals that will ease your mind, body and soul.

Six Senses Spa

Six Senses Spa

Six Senses Spa Elounda is one of the most breathtaking wellness venues in the Mediterranean. Overlooking the Aegean Sea and reflecting traditional Greek architectural styles, the spa offers indoor and outdoor thalassotherapy pools as well as hydrotherapy experiences that include two steam baths, three saunas, a sanarium and four hot tubs. These are complemented by a Cleopatra bath, an air-jet bath, a dry float facility, a fully equipped fitness centre and indoor and outdoor yoga spaces.

The spa has a total of 23 treatment rooms and, in keeping with Six Senses’ holistic and high-tech approach to wellness, guests can partake in a diagnostic screening to determine which of the spa’s specific programmes are most suited to their needs. Following an expert assessment, a range of options are available, focusing on weight management, detox, fitness, sleep, immunity, heart wellness and mind/brain enhancement.

In addition to a targeted menu of facial treatments to follow an in-depth skin analysis, Six Senses Spa Elounda has a comprehensive selection of body rituals that includes Aegean Breeze with Sea Salt and Olive Oil scrub, the exfoliating Soin Triple Lift with Remodeling Face, an Ayurveda-inspired Abhyang Fusion Massage and a Sense of Greece Ritual, which hydrates and nourishes the skin using Cretan olive stones and warm seaweed.

To Stay

The choice of suites and villas at Elounda Peninsula provides a perfect base for your luxurious spa and wellness break, with a VIP check-in guaranteed for all.

Split-level Junior Suites with Sea Views sleep two people and have separate seating areas and private balconies with comfortable loungers, while a selection of one, two and three-bedroom Peninsula Collection Suites can accommodate up to three, five and seven guests respectively. These duplex offerings all have private seawater swimming pools and bathrooms complete with Airbath tubs and steam shower enclosures, so you can enjoy hydrotherapy in your private and homely surroundings.

The perfect indulgent option for honeymooning couples, Beachfront Junior Suites are, as the name suggests, located directly by the private sandy beach, and have their own heatable swimming pools.

Taking a step up in size, Peninsula Grand Villas provide up to 150sqm of living space for up to seven people. Available in two, two double-and-one-single, or three-bedroom versions, the larger of these contemporary-styled properties provides a dressing room and three ensuite bathrooms as well as 183sqm of private outdoor space with a pergola, a verandah and a swimming pool.

Presidential Villas are even more spacious and luxuriously appointed, with direct access to a jetty or the hotel’s private beach. With large indoor and outdoor dining areas, swimming pools and stunning sea views, the two-bedroom villas have two bathrooms with a steam shower and a private sauna.

At the top of the range is a collection of Diamond Residences. Located in waterfront positions, they can host from two to 14 people, making them an ideal choice for larger groups of friends or families looking for every possible amenity to create a home away from home in the most peaceful and naturally nourishing of surroundings.

To Eat

As befits a resort of this size and caliber, the options for dining at Elounda Peninsula are as varied as they are tempting. Start your day with breakfast at Calypso, where an à la carte menu is offered adjacent to a turquoise pool that appears to flow directly into the sea.

Il Borro Tuscan Bistro on the waterfront serves up mouthwatering authentic flavours from the Italian countryside, with a wine list to match, including the famous Il Borro wine, which originates from an organic estate in the Tuscan countryside.

What better to eat by the Aegean than the freshest of sushi expertly prepared at Koh, where chic lounge music accompanies the sound of the sea lapping up against the nearby rocks. Or for a true taste of Greece, visit Elies, located under the canopy of an ancient olive grove.

Set around an ancient millstone, the Old Mill restaurant conjures up award-winning innovative Cretan cuisine on an astounding menu that has diners returning to ‘one of the best restaurants in Greece’ time after time. While the Yacht Club, perched on a dramatic vantage point above the beach, offers a ‘sea and earth’ menu of local ingredients prepared using traditional methods, including a weekly ‘Fishers Evening’ seafood buffet.
