There are 37 bedrooms over five floors, every room has a balcony overlooking the beach and some have their own gardens, wrap-round terraces and viewing pods.

Rooms are super plush, and each has its own individual, contemporary design (not forgetting a sea view too). All of the four ‘Unique’ rooms have their own private gardens, and rooftop lounges or pods accessible by spiral staircases.

To Eat

Perched in the perfect setting The Scarlet Restaurant gazes out over Mawgan Porth beach. Chefs work with organic and sustainable growers, fishermen and farmers to create dishes such as the Cornish hake with lobster ravioli and roast Yorkshire grouse. The restaurant also has a dedicated vegetarian menu and chefs can rustle up dishes on request if you have a food allergy.

Filled with natural daylight the award-winning Scarlet hotel perches on the clifftops looking out over the golden sands of Mawgan Porth in North Cornwall. The hotel has been cleverly designed so that almost wherever you are, you can enjoy far-reaching views of the beach and sea beyond.

A ‘grown-ups only’ escape for adults, the focus is on holistic wellbeing and the nourishment of mind, body and soul – drawing on the wisdom of Ayurveda and adding a distinctive Cornish twist.

The Scarlet Spa

If you can’t be persuaded that outdoor and eco-friendly spa facilities can be luxurious, you need to visit The Scarlet. Here, the external pool is kept ultra clean and hygienic using a natural filtration system, although if the water is too nippy you can plunge into one of the log-fired hot tubs nearby.

The focus is on overall wellbeing, as opposed to a skin deep approach, and Ayurvedic elements are woven throughout the treatments. Guests can relax in cocoon-like swinging pods after using the other spa facilities.

The Treatment

The signature treatment is a three to four hour long ‘Journey’, which includes an individual consultation, a bathing ritual (a seaweed bath out on the cliffs, a body scrub in the hammam or a rhassoul mud treatment), relaxation time, meditation, an Ayurvedic therapy (massage), and a deep relaxation in a hammock-like relaxation pod. There are seven varieties to choose from, and if one of them doesn’t lead you to deep calm, nothing will.

Other Treatments

VOYA environmental defence facial and VOYA organic seaweed leaf wrap.

To Stay

There is an eco ethos at the Scarlet – but that doesn’t mean this place skimps on luxury. The rooms are super plush, and each has its own individual, contemporary design (not forgetting a sea view too). All of the four ‘Unique’ rooms have their own private gardens, and rooftop lounges or pods accessible by spiral staircases. All rooms have Tri-Dosha products and fluffy robes and bath towels.
