To Stay

All of the 101 rooms and suites are nuanced, with the majority boasting sophisticated architectural and structural characteristics from vaulted ceiling and wooden beams to original doors with ornamental ironworks.

The upper floors of the original monastery building housed the monks’ living quarters and in many cases two or three of the ‘cells’ have been combined to create the new spacious rooms and suites.

To Eat

The Augustine Restaurant is housed in a pretty glass-covered courtyard and serves up sophisticated European dishes and local Czech specialties.

At the Refectory Bar, in the monastery’s barrel-vaulted, double-height hall, you’ll find the mixologist creating ingenious cocktails as well as the ever-popular ‘Angel Cocktails’, inspired by the bar’s carefully restored 19th century baroque ceiling frescos.

The Treatment

Surrender Massage: The tailor-made massage is geared to specific needs and begins with a consultation to discuss any areas of concern. The treatment begins with a refreshing Himalayan salt and eucalyptus foot scrub. Ila’s deliciously fragranced, organic body oil, with argan oil, rose and lavender is then used for a light pressure back massage, with concentration paid to any problematic areas, followed by a pressure point shiatsu massage.

Warm aroma bags are then placed on the spine, then an indian head massage completes treatment. An holistic meets therapeutic massage, my mind felt blissfully calm and clear and my problematic scapula and shoulders were dropped and tension free.

Other Treatments

St Thomas Beer Body Ritual. One for the boys – a pure beer scrub followed by a hamamm beer splash and Swedish body massage and finishing with a small beer for consumption!

To Stay

We stayed in The Tower Suite which spans three floors in the monastery’s former astronomical tower and gives stunning 360 degree views of the city and Prague Castle.

Design was inspired by early 20th century Czech cubism and marries this with sumptuous soft furnishings. The cosy lounge area features a stunning spiral staircase that leads up to a marble bathroom with a freestanding iron bath and walk-in monsoon shower.

The third floor bedroom, with king-size bed, walk-in wardrobe and chaise longue offers the most incredible views of the city.Ren products, Nespresso coffee machine, flat screen TV, iPod dock and chargeable Wi-Fi are standard in all rooms.

To Eat

The Augustine Restaurant is housed in a pretty glass-covered courtyard and serves up sophisticated European dishes and local Czech specialties. As a pescatarian I found the menu to be pretty meat heavy, with a just a couple of vegetarian offerings – I opted for green asparagus, with fresh truffles and a poached egg followed by John Dory served on a cauliflower puree, with zucchini and a praline risotto – both were divine.

At the Refectory Bar, in the monastery’s barrel-vaulted, double-height hall, you’ll find the mixologist creating ingenious cocktails as well as the ever-popular ‘Angel Cocktails’, inspired by the bar’s carefully restored 19th century baroque ceiling frescos.St Thomas Brewery Bar – Once the cellar of the original St Thomas Brewery – features original 17th century stalactites, as well as a floating terracotta floor especially laid to protect and highlight the unique setting. Currently, it is available only for private events for up to 70 guests or group reservations with set menus.
