Lisa BrownBy Lisa Brown

As we make our approach up the sweeping driveway to Stoke Park there’s a strange familiarity – I feel like I’ve seen this elegant white mansion house somewhere before. Goldfinger, that’s it!

And inside, as we climb the grand staircase to our room, it happens again. I know this staircase, but where from? O.M.G. It suddenly dawns on me. It’s the staircase from the mini break weekend scene in one of my favourite films, Bridget Jones’s Diary!

Oh, and a perfect setting for a romantic mini-break spa weekend. If it’s good enough for Bridget…

The Treatment

I chose the Thalgo Indoceane Body Ritual which began with a very relaxing milk footbath and scrub. An aromatic sugar body scrub was used for gentle exfoliation, followed by a full body Ayurvedic massage which used warm essential oils, then a softening silk body wrap. The treatment concluded with an Indian head massage.

Any treatment that begins with a foot scrub and ends with a scalp or head massage always feels like a complete toe-to-top overhaul, combined with a great scrub and aromatic massage this complete body ritual was a holistic dream and my skin felt incredible.

Other Treatments

Thalgo Collagen Radiance Facial 25+. A cleansing ritual and intense exfoliation is followed by an ‘anti-ageing face massage’ designed to lift the features. A collagen mask is then applied to help smooth fine lines and plump the skin.Jessica Express Manicure, perfect for a quick ‘pick me up’ preen.

To Stay

We stayed in one of the Junior Suites in the Mansion House. It is a romantic four poster suite designed with traditional dark woods and styled in sumptuous red and gold silks; there’s a seating area with a real open fire and a furnished balcony which overlooks the estate. The marble bathroom was equipped with a walk-in shower and roll-top bath.

Tip: For a very special occasion, go for The Pennsylvania Suite – this was the one featured in Bridget Jones’s Diary!
