A lovingly restored Palladian Georgian manor house near Richmond in north Yorkshire, Middleton Lodge offers guests a choice of 36 individually designed rooms ranging from Shepherds’ huts to cosy, comfy and hot-tub rooms.

Ideal for all the family, including your four-legged friends, an estate-to-plate philosophy means indoor and outdoor dining includes dishes with a focus on minimum food miles and maximum flavour.

In the estate’s Treatment Rooms, an expert team of therapists deliver a handpicked selection of holistic treatments designed to soothe the stresses of everyday life and transport you to a place of total relaxation. A brand new Forest Spa is currently under construction.

The Treatment Rooms

Dating from 1780 and tucked away in the corner of the Coach House, the Treatment Rooms are a beautiful place in which to truly relax. A talented team of professional therapists soothe tired muscles, detoxify and pamper you using highly effective organic products to leave you looking and feeling your radiant and beautiful best.

Middleton Lodge offers a wide range of face and body treatments, partnering with Voya to offer organic Irish seaweed-based experiences including the two-hour Secret Garden Escape and the Lavender/Peppermint Seaweed Sugar Glow. Ren’s principles of ‘purity, performance and pleasure’ are the base for the Yorkshire Rose Ritual and Back to Life booster treatment; and Kiss the Moon’s hand-blended essential oils are used in a relaxing Sleep Ritual. Aromatherapy Associates products and protocols help to reduce stress, lift energy and build mental clarity and optimism through offerings such as the Ultimate Aromatherapy Experience and a Forest Therapy Massage.

As well as a selection of pre-wedding treats and massages for new mums and mums-to-be, a menu of salon treatments offers mani-pedi services with Leighton Denny nail products as well as lash and brow tinting and waxing courtesy of Sienna X.

To Eat

The Coach House restaurant serves a menu of estate-to-plate dishes inspired by produce grown in the walled garden and the orchard. As part of the estate’s eco-credentials – which are set to include the use of sustainable solar energy, hydroponic and aeroponic year-round farming, and the installation of a micro brewery – the restaurant’s land-to-larder approach respects the seasonal shifts in produce using local meat and echoing traditional recipes, some of which date back to the 18th century.

From Sunday roasts to snacks, seasonal soups and home-baked treats, no matter what time of day it is there will be a tasty treat waiting for you. Meals can be taken indoors or outside and a selection of locally sourced soft drinks, spirits, ales and Garden cocktails are offered as well as a wine list handpicked by the knowledgeable sommelier.
