London is awash with mind-blowing luxury hotels, but the new Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, in one of London’s most sought-after postcodes, might just have the edge. Located on the historic Hanover Square in the heart of Mayfair, the new hotel has 50 guestrooms, 78 private residents and the UK’s first Akira Back restaurant, led by Michelin-starred chef Akira Back.

Modern, discrete, contemporary and intimate, Mandarin Oriental Mayfair is more of a boutique than a grande dame of London hospitality, offering a stunning blend of contemporary elegance and timeless luxury.

With its prime location, impeccable service and an offering that epitomises the art of luxury, Mandarin Oriental Mayfair is the new jewel in London’s crown.

Whether you’re seeking an urban spa weekend, a business retreat or a wellness reboot, this hotel delivers on every front.

The Spa

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair

The subterranean Spa at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair in London is discreet, sleek and intimate. Underground spas are common in London but, unlike all its contemporaries, some of the spa benefits from a huge, deep light well that runs through the heart of the hotel and adds a biophilic element to the décor. The interiors are a blend of nature and art, with mesmerising water-drop, candle-like lighting creating a soothing setting and contrasting with an earthy palette of wood, stone, green Ming marble and warm bronze.

The perfect antidote to the fast pace of London life, the 795sqm spa may not be huge, but it boasts a 25m indoor swimming pool – the longest hotel pool in Mayfair – plus three secluded individual vitality pools and a sauna, steam room and experience showers. Treatments are at the heart of the offer, curated to offer guests the much-needed gift of time – you can choose between Seed to Skin Tuscany and Swiss Perfection products and the duration of your session. Your therapists will then personalise a unique treatment for you after an in-depth consultation.

Pushing the boundaries of wellness, the spa innovatively combines hands-on treatments with cutting-edge biohacking technology – such as binaural acoustic and dynamic stimulation. It’s an unparalleled wellness experience and one you won’t yet find elsewhere. Look out for the 22-minute micro-treatments. The computer-controlled acoustic and vibrational therapy sessions are designed to synchronise with your brain waves and induce a meditative, relaxed state – pefect for a lunch break pick-me-up.

For its fitness offering the hotel has partnered with Bodyspace, which is offering hyper-personalised lifestyle performance services centred around enhancing longevity and quality of life.

To Stay

A sleek sister property to Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, this boutique property has an exceptional contemporary design with rooms that boast hand-painted de Gournay wallpapers. From the moment you step into the hotel’s grand lobby, you are enveloped in an atmosphere of understated sophistication, where bold design meets Mandarin Oriental’s rich Asian heritage. The interiors are curated by renowned designer Joyce Wang and 50 tranquil bedrooms and suites exude warmth and exclusivity. Each features marble bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows plus all the hi-tech features you’d expect from a luxury Mayfair hotel.

Suites are the epitome of understated luxury complete with bespoke furnishings. The Mayfair Suite is the largest and most luxurious, with silk wallpaper and a hand-crafted porcelain light feature above the dining room. There are also one, two and three-bedroom apartments are available.

To Eat

Akira Back’s 148-cover restaurant – the award-winning chef’s UK debut – sits at the heart of Mandarin Oriental Mayfair in a light flooded atrium. The menu is heavily influenced by Akira’s Korean heritage, Colorado upbringing and experience in some of the world’s best Japanese restaurants. Offering sumptuous a la carte breakfasts, delicious fare for long lunches and fancy but filling evening feasts, it’s nothing short of delightful.

ABar Lounge is just the spot for pre-supper cocktails sipping and also offers small plates to soak up one too many martinis. Dosa is the brand new 14-seat Korean chef’s table, offering immersive theatrical feasts. You’ll get to watch as artfully curated and prepared dishes integrate unique Korean traditions and techniques.

The ABar Rooftop experience adds another dimension to the offering. This stunning rooftop space is the place for crafted cocktails and light bites with panoramic views of the iconic London skyline.
