The 20,000sq ft Espace Chenot spa and medical wellness centre is world famous for a reason. Boasting a 30-strong team of professionals, from doctors and therapists to dieticians and osteopaths, it offers a plethora of three to seven-day health programmes. The Chenot approach integrates the latest scientific advances in Western medicine and diagnostics with the best in Chinese and alternative medicine to help guests restore vitality, recharge their batteries, find balance, boost fitness or detox.

Everything at Espace Chenot spa is bespoke for each guest thanks to a holistic and systemic screening method using state-of-the-art diagnostics and a multidisciplinary approach. The first step on every programme is a compulsory consultation with your assigned doctor, including bloods tests and diagnostics, the results of which will lay the foundation of your treatments. These diagnostics assess Chenot’s six Lifestyle Biomarkers® and can include body composition and oxidative stress analysis, or skin collagen thickness assessments.

Daily treatments follow a pattern, beginning with a meridian boosting jet bath followed by an all-over clay body mask and finishing with a lymphatic-drainage massage that changes focus each day. Treatments on offer are as varied as each individual guest, featuring hydro-aromatherpy, phyto-mud and hydro-jet treatments to name just a few.

Billed as a gentler way to ‘do Chenot’, programmes range from the seven-night advanced detox to the five-night de-stress and recharge. Each has a focus on promoting health instead of treating disease.

The facilities are vast and modern, from an indoor pool with counter-current swimming and five different types of hydromassage to a sauna, steam bath, Turkish bath and hydrotherapy pools. There are 14 treatment rooms, tennis courts, fitness classes and a fully equipped fitness area.

There is no such thing as a standard room at L’Albereta – the 53 guest rooms vary in shape, size and décor, often boasting rustic touches, unique quirks and period furniture the Moretti family has collected over the years. Each has soaring ceilings, antique furniture and a relaxed-but-exclusive ambiance that’s ever so Italian. If you want to go all out, book the Cabriolet Suite, where the roof opens up so you can watch the stars from your king-sized bed.

Choose from one of four restaurants – the fine dining Leone Felice, La Filiale pizzeria or Stanza 54 for breakfasts and light lunches with views over the vineyards.

Ristorante Benessere is exclusively for guests following one of Chenot Espace’s detox programmes and the vegan menu has been honed to perfection. Designed to induce deep tissue cleansing and re-balance the body’s functions it is healthily and light, but no less delicious for it.
