Gleneagles is a world-renowned country estate set beneath the Ochil Hills in the heart of the Perthshire countryside. One of the most iconic sporting locations dating back to the 1920s, this sublime Scottish getaway really does live up to its sobriquet of ‘The Glorious Playground’.
With an abundance of personality and character present in every part of its 850-acre offering, Gleneagles and its knowledgeable team provide a comprehensive taste of authentic Scottish country pursuits – prepare to take part in activities such as horse riding, golf, archery, tree climbing – providing fun and adventure in one of the most scenic settings imaginable.
While the adventurous side of Scotland is very much to the fore, an invigorating wellness break here also encompasses the more leisurely aspects of country life, with the hotel’s wellness offering and various retreat progammes proving an opportunity to de-stress, be pampered and relax amid the beautiful surroundings.
The Spa
Gleneagles prides itself on being one of the leading UK luxury destinations and its spa exemplifies this to perfection, representing ‘a celebration of happiness and life itself’.
Refurbished in 2021, facilities available to residents include a steam room, a sauna and an atmospheric vitality pool as well as a hot tub and an Alpine onsen. Two indoor pools, an outdoor thermal pool and a gym equipped by Technogym compliment a range of fitness and wellness classes on offer, while a light-filled relaxation courtyard and healthy-eating spa café provide further space to relax and unwind.
With a total of 20 treatment rooms, Gleneagles has partnered with some of the world’s leading brands, including Tata Harper, to provide the ultimate in pampering experiences. In addition, the spa incorporates its own oil blends, made from ingredients grown in the surrounding Perthshire countryside, into a bespoke collection of luxurious rituals.
With a host of visiting practitioners complementing its team of experienced therapists, the spa is also home to Dr. Barbara Sturm’s first UK residency outside of London, providing her unique ‘whole skincare’ treatments.
The Gleneagles’ Wild Wellness retreat – a mindful and restorative nature-based wellness programme – offers a dose of holistic healing, while further retreats are led by leading naturopath and nutritionist Rosemary Ferguson, who has also curated menus for the estate’s Wellness and Garden cafés.
