Chenot Palace Weggis
Lucerne, Switzerland
Nestled at the foot of the Swiss Alps on the north shores of the stunning Lake Lucerne, with dramatic views of Mount Rigi and Mount Pilatus (the latter home to the world’s steepest cogwheel railway), Chenot Palace Weggis is the Chenot flagship destination to sample the trademark Chenot Method® programmes and treatments.
This extremely refined luxury wellness retreat is set in meticulously manicured gardens with zen-like vibes sweeping down to the lake’s shore, where swimming is a highlight in the warmer months. The whole property prides itself on maintaining a serene atmosphere to enhance its comprehensive wellness experience delivering physical, mental and emotional well-being, while maintaining the highest levels of hospitality with typical Swiss efficiency.
Many of the elegant rooms and suites are housed in the old hotel building, which was originally built in 1875. The guest block and 5,000 sqm medical spa were designed by Swiss architect Davide Macullo, with interiors inspired by traditional Swiss aesthetics using contemporary materials and stone sourced from the Alps nearby. The medical spa features state-of-the-art diagnostics and cutting-edge medical screening tests, while the 20m indoor pool has awe-inspiring views across the lake to the mountains beyond.
The Chenot Method® is a personalised array of treatments, detoxification techniques and diet plans developed through more than 50 years of research, which aims to holistically promote physical and mental health to help you to live a healthier life for longer. It’s based on five pillars – diagnostic testing and personal consultation, The Chenot Diet®, hydrotherapy, phytotherapy, and Chinese medicine.
The Wellness Centre
The wellness centre at Chenot Palace Weggis is a temple to cutting-edge technology, with facilities including an altitude training room, anti-gravity treadmills and a cryotherapy chamber. For those less extreme moments, there is the beautiful indoor pool with its amazing views and outside sunbathing terrace.
All stays start with a full medical consultation, followed by a personalised set of diagnostics and a customised treatment plan tailored to your health goals. Your diet is then formulated, before your journey begins with your recommended treatments including hydrotherapy, massage and bioenergetics. Additional treatments can be added at any time, and this is made easier by the Chenot app, where you can access your entire programme and timings, and then choose to add what you like. It also handily tots up the cost of any extras so you don’t blow your budget.
Of the five core programmes, the seven day Advanced Detox is Chenot’s signature. It aims to purify and detoxify the body to increase vitality, reset energy levels and rebalance its physiology. You’ll eat three plant-based Chenot Diet® meals a day, totalling 850 calories. Or there’s the Recover & Energise seven day detox, which not only aims to revitalise your body, but relax your brain. Or plump for the Body Insights & Optimisation four day programme, which uses state-of-the-art medical diagnostics and functional testing to give a precise overview of your health, from metabolic efficiency and inflammation to cardiovascular fitness and muscular strength, with personalised strategies developed to optimise your wellbeing and longevity.
Each programme is crafted for you, and could include the trademark Chenot Bio-Energetic treatment. Here, bioenergetic signals are transmitted through laser conductivity points on the body to help restore its energetic balance while activating the parasympathetic nervous system. There’s also ozone therapy, where your own blood is enriched with the gas with the aim of strengthening the immune system, aiding detoxification and fighting fatigue.
Other treatments on the vast menu of more than 50 different procedures include intravenous nutrient therapy, chelation therapy, hydro-colon treatment, food intolerance tests, mitochondrial stimulation, minerals and heavy metals analysis, DXA body composition analysis, acupuncture, lymphatic drainage facials, neuromuscular activation, and a whole range of massages.
You can also take advantage of the resort’s free yoga, stretching and fitness classes – or else hop on one of its free e-bikes for a leisurely pedal along the flat routes around the lake.

To Eat
Described as where haute cuisine meets cutting-edge science, the Chenot Diet® has been designed as an integral element of the Chenot Method®, and to support the body’s natural detoxification processes without sacrificing taste. In practice, it means the hotel serves up gourmet plant-based meals that are not only nutritious but delicious, and with the clever use of herbs, spices and creativity, guests eat just one gram of salt a day, allowing the natural flavours of the fresh produce to shine through.
Other than on a fast day, where you’re only allowed water, broth or tea, meals are served in a variety of rooms, including the Terrace Room with tranquil views across the lake. Dishes might include nourishing parsley root soup with hazelnut crackers, risotto with creamed broad beans, or celeriac carpaccio with basil and peanut pesto followed by basil panna cotta with strawberry sauce.
Location
Flights to Zürich are recommended, where the Chenot Palace Weggis concierge team can arrange a transfer or limousine service for the 50 minute drive. They will also arrange pick ups from Basel airport, as well as from other long-distance destinations.
