Set in the iconic Bur Khalif (the world’s tallest building) and voted the most luxurious hotel in the world at The 2016 World Luxury Hotel Awards, the Armani hotel has serious style credentials. Not that you would expect anything less from a hotel that has been designed by a man who is a global fashion icon. Giorgio Armani said ‘that to create something exceptional, your mind must be relentlessly focused on the smallest detail’ and it is clear from the stunning design throughout the hotel that he has remained true to his word.

The style is minimalist and the colours in line with his signature neutral palette. In homage to Giorgio Armani’s love of fashion, the corridors have been designed to resemble fashion runways and you could easily imagine a supermodel strutting her stuff here.

The downtown location offers you spectacular views of the Dubai Fountain, and guests of the hotel benefit from direct access to the Dubai Mall via a private elevator.

Every guest is assigned a lifestyle manager to ensure that no request goes unanswered, but what really sets the hotel apart is the genuine warmth in the way that the service is delivered.

Armani Spa

Hotel guests have access to the Armani Spa, a serene space, which in keeping with the rest of the hotel is luxurious yet understated. The spa area includes an Outdoor Pool, with the stunning backdrop of the glittering spine of the Burj Khalifa looming over it, a gym, spa treatment rooms, a sauna, a steam vapore, a laconium (a dry heat treatment room), a terme (a cascade of classical sequential bathing experiences), and an acqua, (a warm freshwater experience), along with a relaxation area where you can sink into the most beautifully curved loungers.

The Armani spa offers a great range of treatments including facials, massages, body scrubs and wraps, as well as manicures and pedicures. The spa menu is designed into collections, making it easy to select a treatment bespoke to your needs.

The Mu collection is designed to encourage peace and relaxation, treatments from the Libertà collection are designed to free both the body and mind by soothing tensions and the Fluidità collection is designed with balancing and energising in mind.

There is also a choice of treatments from the Armani Spa Signature Collection.

The Treatment

I opted for the Fluidità Massage which is perfect for weary travellers. This uplifting and revitalising body massage uses specific draining techniques to help reduce excessive water retention by flushing out unwanted toxins. Jade body oil by Armani is used in the treatment to improve lymphatic circulation.

After an overnight flight this was just what the doctor ordered! Be sure to book a treatment in advance of your arrival so you can head straight to the spa for a massage which will help to combat your jet lag.

Other Treatments

The LIBERTÀ Texture Body Wrap – this deep treatment works to nourish dry skin. Layers of hydrating marine algae and velvety moisturising body butter are applied to the body, before you are wrapped in warm towels.

The treatment ends with body stretches, ensuring that your body feels both nourished and liberated and your skin smooth.

To Stay

I stayed in a deluxe room with views overlooking the stunning Dubai Fountains. The room was beautifully decorated with dark wood furniture and given a soft touch with the curved lines of the walls.In-room facilities include a Nespresso machine, complimentary soft drinks, full sized Armani toiletries and exquisite bed linen, but for me the piece de resistance had to be the iPad which felt very James Bond-esqe…

Your every whim will be answered at the touch of a button, whether it’s ordering room service, selecting your preferred type of pillow, requesting extra toiletries, opening your curtains, switching the tv channels, adjusting the lighting, or choosing your privacy settings; this can all be done from the comfort of your sumptuous bed.

To Eat

The hotel offers culinary experiences from all over the world with a choice of Italian, Mediterranean, Indian, Japanese and European delights. All of the restaurants offer al fresco dining, set against the backdrop of Downtown Dubai and the Dubai Fountains.

Breakfast is served in the Armani Mediterraneo and is an impressive affair – there are even 4 different types of honey to choose from, as well as the prettiest pots of breakfast treats such as yoghurts, smoothies and mueslis, as well a wide choice of pastries, a selection of cooked foods and eggs to order.

We had dinner on the terrace of the Armani Deli, whilst enjoying the views of the fountains dancing in the background. This restaurant doesn’t just rely on the theatre of its surroundings, the food is just as impressive. The Pronto two or three course menu is also surprisingly well priced for a restaurant of this calibre. Dishes on the menu we sampled included avocado and lime salad with spinach and chargrilled chicken breast, buckwheat pasta with smoked salmon and walnuts and black inc risotto with shrimps and baby squids.

Dessert was self selected from the most exquisite choice of treats I have ever had the pleasure to feast my eyes on. They were far too tempting to exercise any restraint, but then surely holidays are all about indulgence!
