The Tri-Body Experience at Teresa Tarmey’s Treatment Room in The Cadogan Hotel
It was about so much more than toning my tummy, says Juliet Kinsman, it felt like it was massaging away unprocessed emotions and trapped tension.
The Tri-Body Experience at Teresa Tarmey’s spa in the Cadogan Hotel will be a bit of a revelation for anyone, like me, who holds emotional sensitivity in their stomach area. As someone who has long struggled with stomach aches, bloating, and a “protective” little belly — possibly tied to unprocessed grief from losing my mother at a young age — this treatment resonated deeply. I’ve often heard that we store emotions in our bodies, particularly in the stomach, and that connection has become clearer as I’ve navigated the side effects of perimenopause: and it felt energising and like it was helping kickstart my digestion.
I loved that it’s based on three cutting-edge techniques: radio frequency — even after one session I got a sense of its power to sculpt, and effective toning muscle stimulation, and the wonderful Josie gave me a manual lymphatic drainage massage which not only ups circulation, but is a great way to reduce inflammation and cortisol in the system — and what Londoner doesn’t need that?
I’m sure the synergy also tackles stubborn tummy insulation and improves muscle definition (as my gym friend says to me: “somewhere under there there’s a six-pack trying to get out”) but it also left my skin feeling firmer and boosts your confidence when it’s on show. What impressed me most was how gentle yet effective it felt. The non-invasive approach was perfect for my sensitive stomach, easing tension while working proper magic.
After the session, I noticed an immediate lightness, both physically and emotionally. The treatment helped me release heaviness — not just in my body, but in my being. It’s more than contouring; during this week in particular, when I’m researching winter wellness diets for The Standard, and I having recently done a bereavement retreat with grief guru, Donna Lancaster — it was a therapeutic experience that underscored how deeply intertwined our physical and emotional wellness can be and how much our mind, body and overall happiness are all interlinked.
As a sustainability expert in luxury hospitality, I typically only recommend experiences which have some sort of eco angle: the good news here is that Belmond works with EarthCheck, a leading certification, consulting, and advisory group so you know they’re keeping tabs on this LVMH-owned hotel group to help measure and benchmark activity in their operations to improve their responsibility. And when it comes to a heating world — goodness knows we need more anti-inflammatory luxury hotel operations.
