Review – We Check in to Cap St Georges Hotel & Spa, Cyprus
Set along the unspoiled western coast of Cyprus, where cerulean waters meet sun-soaked cliffs, Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort is a breath of fresh, sea-salted air. The resort blends Cypriot authenticity with a contemporary edge to create a true haven of calm. Windswept, sun-drenched and serenely Mediterranean, it’s a place where you can fully exhale…
The hotel sits amongst ancient olive groves and citrus trees, with panoramic views over the Mediterranean. Architecture is minimalist yet warm – whitewashed stone, natural textures, and floor-to-ceiling windows that invite the landscape in. Interiors are effortlessly chic, with a calming, neutral palette that reflects the golden light of the island.
Rooms and suites are elegantly understated, with white linens, pale stone, and floor-to-ceiling windows that invite the outdoors in. Designed to cater for couples, families and business travellers the resort offers 12 different accommodation options including a 7-bedroom Presidential Villa Suite with private pool, as well as interconnecting family suites and accessible rooms in each category.
We stayed in one of the Residence Rooms, a light-filled sanctuary with its own private pool and terrace – perfect for lounging, alfresco room service, and early morning dips.
The Cleopatra Spa is the jewel of the resort’s wellness offering. Named after the legendary queen who was said to have bathed in the island’s mineral-rich waters, the spa embodies a philosophy of restorative indulgence. Designed with soft stone and flickering candlelight, it offers an immersive escape from the everyday.
Facilities include a Byzantine-inspired marble Hammam, aromatherapy steam room, Finnish sauna, experiential showers and a tranquil indoor lap pool. The treatment rooms are named after rare orchids from the nearby Akamas National Park – and all are spacious and softly lit. There’s also a VIP spa suite which comes complete with private steam and sauna rooms . Spa products come from leading European brands Valmont and Cinq Mondes, with rituals utilising locally sourced ingredients.
During my stay, I booked the Akamas Journey, a signature ritual inspired by the region’s healing botanicals and landscapes. Pre-treatment, I spent time in the spa’s thermal areas and the indoor lap pool – which I had all to myself!
The ritual began with a gentle full-body exfoliation using locally sourced herbs and minerals, followed by a deeply grounding massage with warm oils infused with indigenous plants and herbs. The scent was earthy and uplifting – cypress, rosemary, lavender – the very essence of the nearby Akamas forests.
My therapist Monica worked on targeting areas of tension with long, flowing strokes and pressure-point techniques. I felt tension dissolve, particularly through the back and shoulders, and a sense of calm began to settle in. The ritual finished with a soothing scalp massage. De-knotted and completely zenned, I floated off to the relaxation room for a cup of herbal tea and a much-needed snooze…
I found the culinary experiences at the resort to be equally restorative. The dining concept focuses on Mediterranean freshness and Asian-inspired slow indulgence, with vibrant menus built around seasonal, locally sourced produce – from freshly grilled seafood and garden-foraged salads to Teppanyaki and sushi. You’ll also find a lovely cafe in the central square serving fresh juices, snacks, and delicious gelato.
For fitness fans the resort offers a whole array of options to choose from – including a professional-grade football pitch, basketball courts, three floodlit tennis courts, a state of the art fitness centre, and a water sports centre.
Resort activities include cheese making classes and olive oil pressing (during the harvest), and to keep the little ones busy there’s a kids club, gaming room, and an al fresco cinema.
