Myofascial Body Work at Carol Joy, London

One of our favourite London spa destinations, the lavish Dorchester Hotel, is now home to the pioneering body treatments of Carol Joy London and we’re just a little bit excited!
The British beauty brand have launched their first range of body treatments, following the adaption of their successful facial techniques. Each treatment uses the most coveted ingredients and there is a clear synergy between the Dorchester Collection’s hotel and the body treatment menu of Carol Joy London. Both highly regard all-encompassing luxury services that cater to not just the skin, but the hair and soul too, making this a great partnership.
Sally Pedder from The Dorchester Spa said; “Here at The Dorchester Spa we pride ourselves on offering a unique menu of world-leading, expert beauty brands. As a pampering destination, we are thrilled to offer Carol Joy London’s new body treatments at our spa. The expanded treatment portfolio will provide an indulgent yet holistic experience for our spa visitors”.
The Treatment
I attended the Dorchester on a Monday evening after a stressful day at work, and not even 24 hours after a delayed flight and a 1am run through Gatwick Airport – let’s say muscle knots were at the ready!
Welcomed in and thoroughly debriefed by the masseuse, she explained that the Myofascial Body Work – which uses the Myofascial massage technique and aromatherapy body oil to banish tensions and rebalance the body and mind – goes deeper than a normal neck, shoulder and back massage. The treatment targets toxins in the body and strains developed through regular computer work and day-to-day lifting. She explained the treatment also provides relief from migraines.
The treatment starts with lying on one’s front and taking three deep breaths of mandarin and rose essential oils. A heated sheet is also laid on the back, before pressure points were pinched, spread, twisted and massaged with various essential oils. I felt a lot of tension released through my shoulders, as well as arms and hands. The aromas and soothing sounds calmed the mind no end, while the intermittent deep breaths centred me. Collagen spray was sprayed all over the skin before turning to lie on my back. Carol Joy London collagen spray is a medically graded, triple collagen which ensures intensive moisture of the skin and the native collagen molecules work to smooth any lines and speed up skin cell regeneration.
A warm, heated lavender pillow is placed behind the neck, and the shoulders, neck and the base of the head are thoroughly massaged to release the remaining tension in the head. This relieved the dull aches of my headache and felt absolutely divine. Again, collagen spray was lightly misted on the skin.
At the end of the treatment, the masseuse recommended leaving the oils and collagen on my skin for a few hours to let it seep in. This treatment is highly recommended. My arms and neck felt looser, my skin softer and more supple, and my mind well rested.
Other Treatments
Another Carol Joy London treatment available at the Dorchester is the Caviar and Algae Detox which use Caviar Algae and Pink Himalayan Salts to detoxify the body and relax the mind. The treatment uses aromatherapy and meridian therapy technique and there is also a version of the treatment that uses Cellular Vacuum Massage available.
The launch of the Carol Joy London treatments at the Dorchester coincide with the launch of the Carol Joy London Senses Collection, a range of body oils that bring a sense of happiness, calmness, purity and balance.
