Combat Frizz This Summer with a Keratin Blow Dry Treatment at Jo Hansford Mayfair, London

Tucked away in the heart of Mayfair, Jo Hansford has long been regarded as one of London’s most prestigious hair destinations. The Lowdown

Designed to smooth, strengthen and restore the hair, The Keratin Treatment contains a concentrated blend of keratin amino acids, antioxidants and essential oils. The formula works deep within the hair fibre to eliminate frizz, improve manageability and dramatically reduce styling time at home. It’s ideal for humid summer months or anyone battling unruly hair.

The Treatment

The process begins with a deep clarifying shampoo, designed to remove excess oils and product build-up while preparing the hair for optimal absorption of the keratin treatment. The shampoo was left on for around ten minutes before being rinsed.

Next, Phoebe — affectionately known within the salon as Jo’s “Queen of Keratin” — applied the keratin lotion section by section, ensuring every strand was fully coated. Once applied, the treatment is left to penetrate the hair beneath a heated lamp for around 45 minutes. There are numerous keratin lotions available but Phoebe used Cocochoco keratin as she believed it to be most suitable for my particular hair type.

Following this, my hair was expertly blow-dried before straighteners were used to seal the keratin into the cuticle. This final stage locks in the treatment while creating an exceptionally glossy, sleek finish with remarkable softness and shine. The entire process took approximately two and a half hours.

The Results

The results were immediately impressive. My usually unruly hair felt noticeably smoother, softer and glossier. A week later and a quick blast with the hairdryer delivered a sleeker finish, while minimal styling with straighteners achieved the glossy, polished look promised by the treatment.

For those with dry or damaged ends, the salon also offers a dedicated split-end solution using the same keratin technology to help repair and smooth compromised hair.
