Austria’s Hotel Lürzerhof Unveils Spectacular Rooftop Wellness Sanctuary Following €10 Million Transformation

Hotel Lürzerhof has reopened its doors following an impressive €10 million transformation, unveiling a stunning new adults-only rooftop wellness sanctuary and establishing itself as one of Austria’s most exciting luxury spa destinations.

The ambitious redevelopment marks the largest investment in the hotel’s history, introducing an entirely new fourth floor of luxury accommodation and a fifth-floor wellness retreat exclusively for adults. Alongside extensive enhancements to the existing spa, the expansion brings the resort’s wellness offering to an impressive 4,500m².

The highlight of the new wellness space is undoubtedly the spectacular 20-metre cantilevered infinity pool, which appears to float above the dramatic Radstädter Tauern mountains. Designed as a peaceful sanctuary with uninterrupted alpine views, the adults-only retreat also features a Finnish Panorama Sauna, Organic Panorama Sauna, Infrared Salt Dome, Aroma Steam Bath, two panoramic relaxation rooms and a dedicated tea lounge. At its heart, a striking glass atrium floods the space with natural light, creating a calming atmosphere throughout.

Accommodation has also been elevated with the addition of six luxurious Sky Suites and two new guest rooms, bringing the hotel to a total of 68 rooms and suites. Designed in a contemporary alpine style, the new suites feature floor-to-ceiling mountain views, spacious terraces and spa-inspired interiors. Selected Sky Suites also include private panorama saunas, outdoor whirlpools and dedicated wellness spaces for the ultimate mountain escape.

Guests will also discover enhancements throughout the existing spa, including a redesigned wellness reception, two new treatment rooms and a collection of signature spa rituals inspired by the surrounding alpine landscape and regional wellness traditions.

Sustainability remains a cornerstone of the family-owned hotel’s philosophy. Hotel Lürzerhof is climate positive, producing more than ten times its own energy requirements through its private hydroelectric power plant while operating entirely without fossil fuels thanks to biomass heating and renewable energy systems. The redevelopment also incorporates green roofs, energy-efficient glazing and environmentally conscious building materials.

Speaking about the reopening, owner Christina Habersatter said: “It is wonderful to have the hotel open again and to see guests enjoying the new spaces for the first time. The mountain views have always been one of the things people love most about Lürzerhof, so we wanted to make them central to the new design. Whether guests are swimming in the rooftop pool, relaxing in the panorama sauna or spending time on the terrace of a Sky Suite, the mountains are always present.

“This has been the largest development in the hotel’s history, but it was very important to us that Lürzerhof should still feel like Lürzerhof. We have added a great deal, but the warmth, personal service and close relationship with our surroundings remain exactly the same.”
