A-List Style Pampering At The Peninsula Beverly Hills
Located on the 5th floor, the spa offers 7 treatment rooms and plus a nail suite and blow out bar, a gym, steam room and serenity lounge. Having pampered some of Hollywood’s most famous faces, the therapists are highly skilled. For spa guests with weekday evening appointments, the hotel offers access to the heated rooftop pool and Jacuzzi, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the Los Angeles skyline. Unfortunately I chose to visit on one of the few rainy days in LA, so I never experienced this amazing sight in its’ full glory.
The Peninsula Radiance Facial left me looking fresh faced for days. This state of the art luxurious anti-aging facial uses CACI technology, to rejuventate the skin and give a lifting effect – using ultrasonic microdermabrasion to clear pores and micro current to lift and firm facial muscles. The LED light works to reduce redness and fine lines. The treatment concludes with ultrasonic technology to penetrate a customised serum deep into the skin for a fresh, radiant glow.
Other treatments include indulgent and age-defying facials from high-end brands Biologique Recherche and Luzern Laboratories, holistic massages and body rituals from Shiffa and Kos Paris and signature manicures and pedicures by celebrity nail technician Deborah Lippmann.
Fitness options cover everything from yoga and pilates to kick boxing, personal training and tailored city hikes.
The hotel has 195 rooms, including 38 suites and 17 private villas. A bedside iPad controls everything from room temperature to room service requests. My room was sumptuous and elegant and overlooked the hotel garden – the French doors were a highlight and allowed plenty of light to filter in. The stylish white marble bathroom was well-stocked with Oscar de la Renta toiletries. The bed was one of the comfiest I’ve ever slept in and the pillowcase was engraved with my initials. Now that’s what you call a bespoke service….
Many a Hollywood power meeting takes place in the beautiful surroundings of The Belvedere. Famous for its stunning terrace, the restaurant serves Mediterranean inspired dishes with a focus on locally sourced ingredients and wild seafood. You can sample delights such as the Crab Stuffed Calamari, or the Sustainably Harvested Oysters to start, and mains such as the Lobster Paella or the Gnocchi with Spring Peas. The Faberge Egg desert is a culinary spectacular – break its colourful chocolate shell to sample the delicious mousse inside. Enjoy a delicious Sunday brunch, but be sure to book ahead to secure a table.
Afternoon tea is served in the beautiful Living Room. No less than 19 choices of tea are served alongside a selection of sandwiches, pastries and scones, all to the sounds of a classical harpist.
The Roof Garden serves fresh Californian cuisine from 7am to 9pm, and makes a stunning location for a pre-dinner cocktail. Choose from dishes such as the Vermilion Fish Tacos, The Portobello, Black Bean and Quinoa Burger or The Peninsula’s Cobb salad.
Take a stroll down Rodeo Drive or, even better, take a ride in one of the hotel’s complimentary Rolls-Royces, where you will be driven anywhere within Beverly Hills or Century City. Now that’s how to feel like an ‘A-Lister’.
